When “clean” doesn’t really mean “clean.”

I have several other posts half-finished and waiting on photos…roasted chicken and the yogurt update…they are coming.  But I wanted to share this link about supermarket chickens.  Since we are heading out to a nearby farm to pick up chickens this weekend, the article seemed timely.  (thanks to Jennifer, my parents’ neighbor, for sending it along!)

The bottom line: the “cleanest” of the supermarket chickens were still contaminated HALF of the time.  Yikes.

Check out the full story here.

And then go find a farmer with a yard full of chickens and make friends.

  1. Wow! We’ve been buying organic chicken for some time because of the conditions in which factory chickens are raised. Now I have yet another reason! Thanks for sharing this story. I’m passing it on.

It’s crazy, isn’t it? Something which seems so simple – our food – is getting really complicated. Glad you enjoyed the information!

Certainly makes it easier when everyone is on the same page. That reminds me that we need to make a run out to the farm this weekend and get some more “real” chickens!! Have a great weekend…
